Rosie Pantry service specifics
Rosie Pantry is committed to supporting our community members. To ensure fairness and sustainability of our food assistance program, please be aware of these important conditions:
- Rosie Pantry services are primarily available to residents of Melton. Proof of residency may be requested.
- Each household is eligible to receive one food hamper per visit to ensure equitable access for all families in need.
- A voluntary donation of $10 is requested per food hamper to help cover operational costs and allow us to continue providing this valuable service to the community. We appreciate your generosity.

Rosie’s Pantry – Terms & Conditions
1. Introduction
1.1 These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of Rosie’s Pantry, a community initiative owned, operated, and funded by Melton Montessori ("we", "us", "our").
1.2 By accessing, attending, or obtaining goods or services from Rosie’s Pantry, you ("visitor", "you", "your") acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
1.3 Rosie’s Pantry is a charitable, community-based service designed to support individuals and families within the Melton community through access to low-cost and donated goods.
2. Community Purpose and Nature of Service
2.1 Rosie’s Pantry operates as a not-for-profit, community support initiative.
2.2 The purpose of the service is to provide affordable access to essential goods, including but not limited to:
- Clothing
- Household goods
- Food and pantry items
2.3 All goods are distributed in good faith to promote dignity, inclusion, and support within the local community.
2.4 Rosie’s Pantry is not a retail business, and transactions do not constitute traditional commercial sales.
3. Eligibility and Access
3.1 Rosie’s Pantry is intended for use by members of the local community, particularly those experiencing financial or personal hardship.
3.2 We reserve the right to:
- Set eligibility criteria
- Limit quantities of goods per visit
- Refuse access where necessary to ensure fairness and sustainability
3.3 Visitors may be required to comply with operational guidelines, including opening hours, item limits, or registration processes.
4. Donations and Contributions
4.1 Goods are provided in exchange for a voluntary or suggested donation.
4.2 All monetary contributions:
- Support the ongoing operation of Rosie’s Pantry
- Assist Melton Montessori in funding staffing, logistics, and supplies
- Are not payments for the purchase of goods in a commercial sense
4.3 Donations are non-negotiable once given and are not linked to warranties or guarantees regarding goods received.
5. No Refunds, Exchanges or Returns
5.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- All donations are final
- No refunds, exchanges, or returns will be provided
- No credits, gift cards, or alternative goods will be issued
5.2 This policy reflects the charitable nature of the service and the donated origin of goods.
5.3 Nothing in this clause excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
6. Condition of Goods
6.1 Unless otherwise stated, all items supplied are second-hand or donated goods.
6.2 All goods are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
6.3 To the extent permitted by law, Rosie’s Pantry and Melton Montessori:
- Make no guarantees regarding quality, condition, safety, or suitability
- Do not warrant that goods are free from defects
6.4 Visitors are solely responsible for:
- Inspecting goods prior to acceptance
- Determining suitability for their intended use
7. Food Bank Terms and Disclaimer
7.1 The Rosie’s Pantry food bank distributes donated and surplus food items.
7.2 While reasonable care is taken in handling food:
- No guarantees are made regarding freshness, quality, or fitness for consumption
- Items may be close to or past best-before dates where legally permissible
7.3 By accepting food items, you acknowledge and agree that:
- You are responsible for inspecting all food before consumption
- You will not consume items that appear unsafe, damaged, or unsuitable
7.4 To the extent permitted by law, Rosie’s Pantry and Melton Montessori are not liable for any illness, injury, or adverse outcome resulting from food consumption.
8. Limitation of Liability
8.1 To the maximum extent permitted under the Australian Consumer Law and applicable Victorian legislation:
Rosie’s Pantry and Melton Montessori exclude all liability for:
- Loss or damage to personal property
- Personal injury or illness
- Indirect or consequential loss
- Any damages arising from use or misuse of goods
8.2 Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited (at our discretion) to:
- Replacement of the goods, or
- Supply of equivalent goods
8.3 You acknowledge that participation in the service is voluntary and at your own risk.
9. Assumption of Risk
9.1 By accessing and using Rosie’s Pantry, you acknowledge that:
- Goods may be used, imperfect, or donated
- Risks may exist in using such goods
9.2 You voluntarily accept all risks associated with the use and consumption of items obtained.
10. Visitor Conduct and Community Expectations
10.1 Rosie’s Pantry is built on mutual respect and community care.
10.2 All visitors must:
- Treat staff, volunteers, and other visitors respectfully
- Follow reasonable directions from staff or volunteers
- Act honestly and fairly when accessing goods
- Respect limits placed on items
10.3 The following behaviour is strictly prohibited:
- Aggressive, abusive, or threatening conduct
- Hoarding or misuse of the service
- Theft or dishonesty
10.4 We reserve the right to:
- Refuse service
- Ask individuals to leave
- Restrict future access
where behaviour breaches these Terms.
11. Health and Safety
11.1 Visitors must take reasonable care for their own health and safety while on premises.
11.2 Children must be supervised at all times.
11.3 Visitors must comply with any safety signage, instructions, or procedures.
